Australian 3 Day Event secures naming rights sponsor

7 June 2011: The Australian International 3 Day Event announced today that it has reached a three year naming rights agreement with professional services firm Deloitte.

Chairman Ms Manon Strachan said “We are thrilled that Deloitte has become our naming rights sponsor for the three years to 2013. This is a major milestone for the event which will now be known as the ‘Deloitte Australian International 3 Day Event’ and will incorporate the HSBC FEI Classics™ Series.” Ms Strachan explains that the long term partnership with Deloitte will ensure that this world-class event remains in the stunning Adelaide parklands for the long term, while affording the event an opportunity to invest in new attractions and technologies that will enhance both spectators’ and riders’ experience.

Managing Partner of Deloitte South Australia, Mr Rob DiMonte said, “The event offers a unique platform for us to engage with families and business locally and around the world. Being the largest professional services firm in the world and in South Australia, the alignment was obvious and it was an easy decision for us to become the naming rights sponsor.”

Ms Strachan concludes by saying “This year is shaping up to be our biggest event yet. We have a HSBC FEI Classics™ Series prize pool of more than $US333,000 on offer, we will be broadcasting to more than 10 million people across five nations and our new home in Victoria Park, against the stunning Heritage Grandstand backdrop, will offer a unique experience for both our sponsors and spectators. Australian 3 Day Event relocates to Heritage Grandstand

16 May 2011: The Australian International 3 Day Event announced today that it will relocate the event in 2011 from Rymill Park to the newly renovated Heritage Grandstand in Victoria Park.

Chairman Ms Manon Strachan said “Victoria Park has always been part of the event and the relocation from Rymill Park will allow us to utilise existing infrastructure that will let us to provide a better viewing experience for all spectators.”

“The short relocation to the heart of Victoria Park will enhance the already world-class reputation by centralising the event and making access and parking easier. The move will also significantly raise the number of free viewing areas for the general public over the three days and give us a greater opportunity to run more activities, displays and entertainment.” Ms Strachan said.

Event Director and dual Olympic Gold medallist Ms Gillian Rolton said "In 2011 the Market Place, VIP hospitality marquees and the popular “Ponies in the Park” will all make the move to Victoria Park in front of the magnificent Heritage Grandstand giving this year’s event the look and feel of an English Country Fair.

“Rymill Park and its popular water complex will remain a key part of the cross-country stage of the event,” explains Ms Rolton. “In a first for the event, we will be offering reserved grandstand seating around the newly updated, expanded and technically challenging water complex, giving spectators a chance to get a close up view of all the thrills the water jump complex offers.”

Tickets for the 2011 event are now on sale and can be purchased online at australian3de.evolveshop.com.au. Early bird ticket prices apply to tickets purchased prior to 30 September 2011.

Adelaide Horse Trials Awarded Global Pro-Tour Status

The Australian International 3 Day Event has today been awarded global pro-tour status by the international sporting body, The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The Adelaide-based event, which in 2002 became the first CCI 4* in the southern hemisphere, will host the second leg of the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season against the stunning city centre backdrop of Adelaide Park Lands on 18-20 November 2011.

“The Australian International 3 Day Event is the country’s premier equestrian competition and one of only six ‘Pro Tour’ events held around the world,” explained Event Director and dual Olympic gold medallist Gillian Rolton (AUS). “For the last 10 years, Adelaide has been the chosen host city of this hallmark equestrian event and we are extremely proud for the first time in November 2011 to take our place in the HSBC FEI Classics™ Series.”

Premier Mike Rann has congratulated the organisers of the Adelaide Horse Trials on achieving pro-tour status.

“The inclusion of the International 3 Day Event in the HSBC FEI Classics™ highlights South Australia’s ability to host world class, Olympic qualifying events that attract patrons from all around the world. The event will see the city of Adelaide profiled on a global stage to more than 30 million viewers across six nations.”

The Adelaide Cross-Country phase on Saturday 19 November will see competitors tackling a
demanding course designed by South Australian international course designer Wayne Copping. Riders will start in front of the Heritage Grandstand in Victoria Park, cross two dual carriageways, wind through Rymill Park, featuring water jumps regarded as some of the most challenging in international eventing, and culminate back in Victoria Park in front of the Heritage Grandstand.

Commenting on the unique location of the event, Adelaide Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said "Hosting the event in our beautiful parklands and the close proximity to our city centre has always been a major feature of this international event and we are delighted to be showcasing the City of Adelaide and all it has to offer again in 2011.

Rolton adds "In 2011 we have a priority to invite the top FEI officials from around the world to preside over the event. The program for 2011 is our biggest yet. From the dressage and eventing master classes, the equine showcase displays, the popular Ponies in the Park, the market place, the hospitality marquee and the Eventer’s Bar in Victoria Park, there’ll be something for everyone.”

“This year the riders will be competing for over $100,000 Prize money which is the biggest prize pool for eventing ever in Australasia. This, the vital HSBC FEI Classics Series points on offer and the chance to push the case for selection for the London 2012 Games will certainly be great incentive for all competitors to produce their best” said Rolton.

Welcoming Adelaide to the FEI HSBC Classics, Giles Morgan, HSBC Group Head of Sponsorship said “We are delighted to welcome Adelaide as part of the prestigious HSBC FEI Classics™ series and look forward to seeing the competition evolve.”

HSBC will be contributing US$1 million in prize money over the next three years to the HSBC FEI Classics™ and at the end of the 2012 season, the five riders with the highest number of points collected across the six HSBC FEI Classics™ events will be awarded their share of a total prize pool of US$333,000.

FEI Welcomes Adelaide to HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 Season

The FEI is delighted to welcome the Australian International 3 Day Event to the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season.

“The Australian International 3 Day Event is the country’s premier equestrian competition and one of only six 4* events held around the world,” explained Event Director and dual Olympic gold medallist Gillian Rolton (AUS). “For the last 10 years, Adelaide has been the chosen host city of this hallmark equestrian event. We are now extremely proud to take our place in the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors and competitors to an action-packed event in our unique City of Adelaide Parkland setting.”

HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 calendar

The HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season will begin at Les Etoiles de Pau CCI 4* (FRA) on 12-16 October 2011.

This is also the location for the final leg of the 2011 season.

Competitors therefore have the unique opportunity to secure points for both the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2011 and 2012 seasons by competing at Les Etoiles de Pau.
