We hope the following information will assist you in planning your stay in Adelaide for the 2009 Australian International 3 Day Event and also help you have a safe and enjoyable experience with us.
We’ve included details about the road closures, including tips for avoiding the traffic.
If you are planning to drive, parking options are included as there is no public parking at the event site.
Public transport makes getting to and from the city edge site easy and we’ve included details about the best places to link up. There are also a number of options for disabled viewing to assist you to enjoy the three days of competition.
Horsesports can be dangerous and we’ve included detailed information about where to cross the track to ensure everybody has a safe and enjoyable time during the Cross Country phase of the event.
GETTING THERE
Held in Adelaide’s spectacular city edge parklands, the 2009 Australian International 3 Day Event is particularly easy to get to and walking distance from Adelaide’s CBD. If you choose to drive, there are a number of public parking stations nearby.
Public Transport is another viable option given the event’s proximity to the city. For more information, check the Adelaide Metro website.
Adelaide is arguably Australia’s most accessible city – the Mt Lofty Ranges and pristine city beaches lie only 20 minutes from the CBD and our world-renowned wine regions are only an hour away. Adelaide is also rich in Aboriginal and European heritage, and our city showcases stunning architecture.
Adelaide’s history and culture is on display along North Terrace where the South Australian Museum, Art Gallery of South Australia and Migration Museum can be found. The Aboriginal Cultures Gallery at the South Australian Museum houses the most extensive collection of Aboriginal artefacts in the world.
Adelaide has many dining precincts that offer visitors a range of culinary delights in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere – Rundle Street, Hutt St, Gouger Street in the city, O’Connell Street Nth Adelaide, Parade Norwood, and King William Rd Unley Park to name just a few close to the action in Rymill Park.

CREDIT UNION CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
The much-loved Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on the same day as the Australian International 3 Day Event’s Cross Country Day on Saturday 14 November. So check out the Credit Union Christmas Pageant in the morning and then head along to the 2009 Australian International 3 Day Event.
In 2009, the Credit Union Christmas Pageant will celebrate ‘Families Sharing Memories’ throughout the parade. With more than 300,000 people lining the 3.2km pageant route, the excitement of the parade is heard across the city as the floats, mini-sets, marching bands, dancers and characters begin their journey from South Terrace.
At 9.10am, the crowd will attempt a Guinness World Record for the biggest Mexican Wave which will start on South Terrace, travelling both sides of the road along the pageant route to conclude at North Terrace.

PARKING AND ROAD CLOSURES
Parking
The 2009 Australian International 3 Day Event does not provide on site public parking during the event. There are a number of parking stations close to the event site, located on Rundle Street and North Terrace. Or there is some parking at Victoria Park Racecourse. This year we will have the usual Bartels Rd entrance on all 3 Days but also entry at the end of Rundle St at Stag Corner on Saturday 14th Nov.

Road Closures
The 2009 Australian International 3 Day Event is held across three of Adelaide’s famous parklands. This necessitates the closing of some of roads to provide a safe competition for both horses and spectators. Both Wakefield and Bartels Roads will be closed from 9am on Friday, November 13 through until 6pm on Sunday, November 15.
