Cross Country

Determination, Courage and Trust

The Cross Country is the most exhilarating discipline of the three day event. It requires determination, courage and trust between horse and rider to defy gravity over imposing obstacles over a long and gruelling cross country course.

More than 60 individually designed, handcrafted obstacles challenge the courage and determination of both horse and rider through a winding 7000 metre track. Set among the trees, creeks and lakes of the Adelaide Parklands, this phase offers spectators the ultimate equestrian experience.

The rider will have the chance to see the course in advance; the horse has no such luxury. To successfully navigate such challenges, each will have to rely on experience, creativity, courage and above all trust in each other to get home safely in a limited time.

In 2011, the Cross Country will start in front of the Heritage Grandstand in Victoria Park, wind it’s way through Victoria Park and into the beautiful Rymill Park where the horses and riders must negotiate the challenging and exciting Rymill Park Water complex before returning through Park 15 and Victoria Park to finish again on Heritage Oval…
